A vacation on the Graf-Messnerhof through the season

Spend unforgettable holidays at Graf-Messnerhof in Eisacktal/Valle Isarco. Every season holds a peculiar charm. Immerse yourself in nature: spring - when nature is awaking, summer - when nature is full of life, autumn - when nature shows many colours and winter - when nature sleeps.

Spring

Spring holidays in Brixen, South Tyrol. Beautiful sea of blossom

When the days are becoming longer again and the flowering plants decorate the Eisacktal Valley/Valle Isarco then it is worth going on a walk through this sea of blossom.

Hiking and biking in a sea of blossom. Our Graf-Messnerhof guesthouse is the ideal starting point for many hiking tours, especially in spring when the apple trees and the cherry trees are in flower. And while you can already enjoy blossoms of the trees down in the valley, the mountaintops are still covered in snow. This is also a good time for spring skiing in one of the nearby ski areas.

Culinary delights and culture in spring. Cultural enthusiasts will find a huge variety of museums in the surrounding areas. Moreover the former bishopric Brixen/Bressanone and the historical convent “Kloster Neustift” are absolutely worth seeing. Every year in spring the ‘Royal Festival’ takes place on the high apple plateau of Naz-Sciaves. The highlight of the festival is the blossom and traditional costume parade, where many “Queens” are presenting their products, for instance the Apple Queen, the Poppy Queen, the Onion Queen etc.

Summer

Furthermore in summer there are lots of possibilities to go swimming and to enjoy water in our surrounding areas: the fun pool “Aquarena” with a variety of slides in Brixen/Bressanone, the natural bathing pond in Lüsen/Luson, the kneip facility at the Schalder wild stream and rafting on the white waters of the Eisack river.

Biking. You may also discover the surroundings by bike, a perfect summer activity in the Eisacktal/Isarco Valley, the valley of trails. Our house is the ideal departure point for bike excursions. You will find not only numerous easy cycling tracks but also challenging mountain bike trails.

Culture & Sightseeing. If the weather should not be at your side then you can make an excursion into the historical town of Bressanone with its arcades, churches and very nice shops. Moreover you may also visit a museum, such as the Archaeology Museum with Ötzi.

Autumn

Autumn holidays in Brixen, South Tyrol. Nature in many colours

Apples which shine in red and gold, vineyards with colourful leaves and a perfect clear view onto the mountains: What can you desire more?

Golden autumn. In autumn there is harvest time. Ripe fruit is hanging on the trees, ready to be picked. Take a walk through the orchards. Numerous well-marked trails guide you through the colourful countryside.

"Törggelen" in Eisacktal valley. Along the way you may stop for a bite to eat in one of South Tyrol’s traditional country inns, since autumn is “Törggelezeit”. Taste the young wine along with roast chestnuts and enjoy seasonal South Tyrolean dishes.

Autumn = harvest time. Every year in autumn on the high apple plateau Naz-Sciaves takes place the “Sunnseiten Apfelwoche”. The festival, dedicated to the apple, offers for a whole week many events around the apple. The highlight of the festival is the thanksgiving parade, where also the new Apple Queen is going to be crowned.

farm

History and Hospitality at Widemhof-Messnerhof

The “Widemhof-Messnerhof“ farm used to make part of the possessions of the Novacella monastery until the 19th century. Then, farmers still had to turn in part of their crop as leasehold rent. In the year 1848, following a new Austrian law, all leaseholders were given ownership after paying a transfer fee to their lord of the manor. The Messnerhof farm has been in the hands of the Graf family since 1926. Although apples and grapes are our mainstay, we also farm apricots and peaches – as well as a variety of vegetables. In 2022, our long-standing Graf-Messnerhof B&B was expanded to include five brand-new holiday flats. We would be pleased to offer you a guided tour of our farm and talk about our daily life on the farm and to show you on a guided walk the beautiful faces of the high apple plateau.
